From Brand Brief to Brand Guidelines
Ideation (5 hours) - For the designer-led method, this involved sketching concepts and brainstorming ideas based on the brand brief, and developing initial concepts. I considered multiple approaches, sketching, and conceptualizing.
Logo (7 hours) -The next step in both processes was the creation of a logo. Using the traditional method, I used design software, Adobe Illustrator, to craft a logo from scratch, incorporating elements of the brand's identity. Creating a logo from scratch involves multiple steps: research, conceptualization, rough drafts, refinement, and finalization.
Color Palette (5 hours) - Researched color psychology and tailored a palette that reflected the brand's values ensuring that the palette resonates with the desired emotions and values. This process also involves testing colors and ensuring they work well across various mediums.
Typography(4 hours) - I chose primary and secondary fonts and defined styles, documented appropriate usage for headings, body text, and other copy styles, and tested the fonts in different contexts for example, on website mockups or printed materials.
Imagery & Graphic Assets (6 hours) - Defined how to use imagery (photography, illustrations, icons), provided examples of acceptable visual elements that align with the brand, and created rules for image style.
Brand Guidelines (12 hours) - Creating the brand guidelines involved detailing the logo usage, color palette, typography, and tone of voice. This was done by hand in the traditional approach.
Prototype Wireframes (15 hours) - Finally, I designed prototype wireframes to visualize how the brand would look in a digital space. The traditional design method involved sketching and refining concepts. .
Time Assessment The human-designed brand identity project took a total of 55 hours, with the majority of time spent on prototype wireframes (15 hrs). Overall, the project was time-intensive due to the nature of brand development, requiring careful consideration of each element to ensure consistency and alignment with the brand's vision and target audience and of course, it is all made from scratch.
